Rougham Estates calls time on Rougham Airfield
Bury Model Flying Club has received notice to quit the site by 31 May 2023.
End of an era, and a tough call for model flyers in the area.
Kevin Hunt, Treasurer, issued the following email yesterday, 7 February 2023:
‘It is with great sadness that I am writing this email.
As some of you may be aware, Rougham Estates have given the flying school notice to vacate Rougham Airfield.
I unfortunately received our letter yesterday, and BMFC have been given notice to vacate Rougham Airfield by the 31st May 2023.
With the recent loss of Honington this will put more strain on Knettishall.
It is also predicted that with the full size leaving Rougham, Knettishall would most probably be the most likely new home for the full-size activities from Rougham.
The BMFC committee is looking into various options but If anyone has any suggestions as to a possible new flying site, now would be a good time to come forward.
