CAA Reg Numbers – a gentle reminder

Vic Blackwood, Club Secretary, sent the following email to all members, on 1 June 2021:

‘Gents,

Assuming the latest covid variant doesn’t erupt further, we look to be back to normal flying. However, it appears that some flyers seem reluctant to append their models with their OPR numbers, as required by the Article 16 Model Aircraft Code. Of course, this may just be down to some managing to successfully hide the OPR somewhere unobtrusive, or within the cockpit or inside a hatch (which can be opened without a tool) etc. However, I suspect that some will just not have “Got Round To It”!

I do not wish to check other members’ models and I’m sure all of the Committee feel the same. However, we cannot all turn a blind eye to this legal requirement and I would ask you to keep our hobby legal by applying your number to the model. Let’s face it, you could simply use a marker pen until you can find a more permanent solution.

I purchased some clear A4 adhesive sheets and printed off a page of my numbers for my models and I can help you get your numbers if necessary.

Regards,
Vic
