Club Meeting, 26 February 2024

There were very few people there, lowest count I have witnessed in fact. It could have been the weather, or maybe the absence of the promised agenda item of Vic delivering a chat about the introduction of the Buccaneer.

Nevertheless it was a very relaxed and convivial event.

Alan Flight’s funeral is scheduled for 1:30pm, 5th March, at Bury Crematorium.

Our new Facebook page is up, running and looking very successful with an impressive hit count. (See the sidebar on the right, or below if viewing on a phone, for a link).

James is looking for contributors & help to mount a static display at Stonham Barns on 24 March. Contact our chairman at mailto:jamesladelle@live.co.uk.

For afters there were 3 models on display:

Top of the bill, Ken Holmes introduced his Wacky Combat Thunderbob, resplendent in royal purple and stand out yellow. Untried in the air as yet, but a very impressive first build from Ken.

Ron Gray talked us through his now completed Focker Wolfe 190 from Warbirds Replicas. This model was built as a demonstration to newbie builders and has been built stage by stage with no recourse to specialist tools (I have harped on before about the impressive array of kit and caboodle in the wide open spaces of Ron’s shed). There is a step by step sequence of videos by Ron on his YouTube channel. Worth a look alone for how he covered it in brown paper and very effectively weathered the finish.

Finally my small Gloster Gladiator on its last outing for a while. Now skinned, it is being put away whilst I get on with building a Butch Bird for this year’s Wacky Combat competitions.
