Rougham re-opens for model flying

Great news! Rougham is available again.

There are some fresh safety rules and practices, introduced to help us to co-exist safely with full size activity and other recreational users of the site. There is also some clarity over incident reporting.

Rule Updates

The revised handbook is available from the Members Only tab, (you will need the password) or directly from here.

Changes have been highlighted in yellow and can be found readily by scrolling through the document. Changes are in the Preamble; Section 1; Section 2; Section 3 (Knettishall); Section 4 (Rougham); Section 14 and Section 15.

I hope to publish some explanatory slides for the rule changes. In the meantime, check out the handbook.

Incident Reporting

All model flyers are legally bound by the reporting requirements of Article 16. BMFA help us by providing a preliminary reporting tool. These things are readily checked and accessed from links in the sidebar to this website.

But we have to learn to establish the facts after any incident, minor or major. It’s also vital that our Secretary, Vic, is notified of any hint of events that may upset our fellow airfield users so that he can set the ball rolling and protect our interests.

Any incident is the personal responsibility of the model pilot. Nothing absolves a model pilot from failing to report an incident that falls within Article 16. Nothing.

Only the love of your friends and fellow club members is at risk for failing to maintain our good relationships with fellow site users. Oh, and membership of the club…if it survives the transgression.

Teamup

Adding your name to a session is compulsory. It’s also the decent, friendly thing to do. Go to the Members Only tab to see what you need to do. You will need the password. Don’t remember it? Contact Ian McDowell.

Not everyone has the smartphone/tablet/computer capability & competence to do this – so help other members by adding them when you see them.
