This is a season long competition. You can take part any time you are at the flying field and update your score. Arrange events between mates; call on Ron Gray to help; supplement your scorecard.

In addition, there are dates set for group events with BBQ combined with other activities. See the list below.

Details about the competition and the Hanky Planky  is found from the menu item above, or follow this link to the Home of the 2023 Club Competition.

3 in 1 (the triathlon)

Family Day & BBQ – trial flights, food and chuckies

World Record Attempt 12:00 noon – same approach as last year, with safety foremost…about 30 minutes of mayhem

Hanky Planky Wacky Races – more group races played to Ron’s Rules. Very possibly with bonus points for your scorecard.

Visit the Information page.

Another cracking day. Even the weather perked up in the afternoon. 50 members and guests attended, 49 planned to take part in the World Record Attempt and 48 succeeded. Thank you all. Pictures of the day are on this linked page.

Charity Distance Challenge – (week long event, below), we’ll have the course set out for all to contribute

BBQ – Master Chef Ron Spencer will cook what you bring. A few burgers will be available for a contribution, but it would be unwise to rely on our supplies. Coffee/tea/water and condiments will be provided.

Wacky Races – of course

General Flying, including assisted flights

Note, there will be no portaloo on site for this event.

Worked out really well. Another bit of splendid organisation by Ron Gray, and cooking by Ron Spencer. The weather put paid to the Distance Challenge and the rest of the week’s forecast makes this a probable no runner, but an excellent day for Wacky Races – photos, videos and report accessible from this link.

1 July – 9 July 2023 inclusive

BMFA Charity Distance Challenge

Bonkers, but interesting idea to clock up the equivalent mileage of a trip around the world. Distance is aggregated from all flyers at all participating clubs in the UK during the week.

It’s big, broad and wacky. We only have to clock up 40,075 Kilometres between us and all the other members of the BMFA, in 9 days.

More information on the BMFA site here…I wonder if Hanky Planky racers can score extra points for the competition?

Or, click on the diagram below to read the BMFA leaflet:

Sunday, 27 August 2023

Confirmed as on.

Some help setting up at 10am would be great. Bacon butties and flying from 10:30 – bring cash!

BBQ – Master Chef Ron Spencer will again treat the food you bring to his BBQ skills (some grub will be available for a financial contribution)

Hanky Planky Wacky Races – of course

A Special slot for interest –  Contact Ron Gray with your offers or thoughts of great ideas. I have seen hints that RonG and MarkA may have been practicing a synchronised EDF show

Assisted Flights for guests

General Flying

A pleasant day among friends, challenged by the weather. More splendid organisation by Ron Gray, and cooking by Ron Spencer. The best of the weather was before 2pm which messed with the Wacky Races. We managed only a partial round of ‘cut the crap’ in the afternoon with some incredible skills demonstrated by Kevin Fairgrieve and Brian Ball – photos, videos and report accessible from this link.

There are also some superb closeups of general flying on the day on Kevin Fairgrieve’s Flickr page (opens in a new tab).

Sunday 22 October 2023 – The Pilots Ball at Knettishall

We would really appreciate some feedback from members ahead of this event. Please share your thoughts with Ron Gray or Ian McDowell.

The Grande Finale of the Hanky Planky Wacky Races 2023, closing the race season. Be there or lose your place on the scorecard

Wear a ‘plane themed hat to qualify for food

BBQ – Master Chef Ron Spencer treating your offerings to a gentle grilling

Hanky Planky Wacky Races – the centrepiece

A Special slot for interest – I’m hoping for a Hanky Planky bonanza finish

Assisted Flights for guests

General Flying

Great fun with the most challenging events yet, in a brief interlude of rotten weather. More splendid organisation by Ron Gray, and cooking by Ron Spencer. incredible skills once again demonstrated by Brian Ball, this time accompanied by a superb performance from Steve Tarrant – photos, videos and report accessible from this link.
