CAA Operator number

Vic Blackwood, Club Secretary sent the following email to all members, on 25 April 2021:

‘Hi gents,

Last Thursday, at the East Anglia Area Zoom meeting there was a “gentle” reminder that we are all required to display OPR numbers on our models, as per the regulations. I was asked to promulgate the message.

It takes a bit of searching, but the application of the rules for displaying an Operator ID, at the time of writing, extracted from the CAA page ‘Labelling your drone or model aircraft’ (opens in a new tab), appear to be:

Your operator ID must be:

  • visible from the outside, or within a compartment that can easily be accessed without using a tool
  • clear and in block capitals taller than 3mm
  • secure and safe from damage
  • on the main body of the aircraft
